THE YOUNG ARTIST’S STUDIO is a small independent art school. We endeavor to keep our tuition affordable and charge no yearly registration fee. We are flexible and willing to discuss your particular situation.
We are fully accepting of all personal beliefs, faiths, heritages and lifestyles and ask that our students and parents be equally respectful in kind. Many of our themed classes address the myths, legends and faiths of diverse cultures. Examples of art shown may at times reveal the unclothed human form.
Unless otherwise noted, School Year classes meet once a week for five-week sessions of hour long classes for children, an hour and 15 minutes for teens, and hour-and-a-half for adults. Summer Camps are for one week / five, three or two consecutive day classes. Adult classes follow regular school year schedules. Weekend Studios / Special Events occur sporadically. Your suggestions and input are always welcome.
Tuition Fees – Private children’s lessons are $16.00 for 1 hour and $22.00 for hour-and-a-half classes, with a minimum of a 4 week session. Adult classes are $150.00 per 5 week session. The individual tuition is lowered depending on group size.
Payment – We accept cash, personal checks and money orders. Please send registration and payments to 1124 McKenzie Avenue, Bremerton, WA 98337. Thanks.
Discounts – Seniors (ages 65 and above) receive a 10% discount. We offer large group, private classes and party rates. Please ask about payment plans and sliding scale tuition.
Notification of Absence – Preparation of classes is time consuming! Please notify us at least two hours in advance if your student is ill or is unavoidably detained.
Make Up Classes – With advance notification of an absence due to illness or emergency, we will make every effort to allow a student to attend a similar class.
Pro-Rated Sessions – Individual classes may be pro-rated at non-discounted tuition rates with advance notification at time of registration. A minimum of three sessions must be paid for or attended.
Drop-Ins and No-Shows – Due to the necessity for advance preparation and space issues, we do not encourage drop-in students. No-show absences will not be accommodated with make up classes or pro-rated tuition.
Cancellations – Reimbursement is offered for full tuition minus 20% following notification one week before the 1st class and minus 40% for one day before the 1st class. Reimbursements will not be made after the 1st class with the exception of illness or injury, in which case remaining tuition may be credited toward another class session.
Snow Days / Instructor Illness – We will cancel and reschedule classes. We follow Bremerton School District Snow Day policy. If your situation is unique, please call and we will follow make up class policy. In the case of instructor illness or emergency, classes will be rescheduled or tuition reimbursed on a pro-rated basis.
Arrival / Departure – Everyone is anxious to start having fun, but please try and arrive no sooner than five minutes before class is scheduled to start. This gives us the time necessary to prepare materials for the studio. By the same token, please pick up your student on time and encourage them to stop work on their project as we often have another class to prepare for.
Retrieval of Art Work – Please retrieve your student’s work at the end of a session, our storage capacity is limited and it’s a difficult decision to discard art!
Clothing – Art can be messy, please dress for action! We have smocks available, but sleeves, pants legs and shoes are difficult to protect. Shoes must be worn while in the studio.
Photography – With your permission, we would like to photograph your student and his or her work for our archives and publicity. Please check or leave blank the relevant space at the bottom of our registration form.
